Bar Lola 2009 Winter/Spring Wine Dinners

January 27: R. Stuart Pinot Noirs from Oregon

Our special guest will be winemaker Rob Stuart, who will be showing us his beautiful R. Stuart wines. Prior to starting his own winery, Rob was the winemaker at Erath Vineyards. At R. Stuart, he focuses on making beautiful pinot noirs, pinot gris and sparkling wines.

February 24: The Wines of Southwest France

Featuring wines from Gascony, Bearn (including the Jurancon AOC), and beyond. This region has a range of incredible wines featuring Bordeaux varietals throughout as well as unique local varietals. Special guest Carole Decouard from Robert Kacher Selections (www.robertkacherselections.com) will be visiting to talk about these beautiful wines.

March 24: Italian Wines from the Veneto Region

The Veneto region has a rich history influenced, in part, by its location on the trade routes between Europe and Asia. It includes several of Italy's most beautiful cities - Venice, Verona, Padova and Vicenza. It is also home to 20 wine DOC's and some of Italy's most beautiful wines like Amarone, Valpolicella, and Prosecco.

April 28: Old World vs. New World

It's fascinating to see how the same varietals can make very different wines based on the location and tradition of where they are grown. For example, compare an Oregon Pinot Noir and a French Burgundy. How do Old World wines from Italy, France, Spain, Germany, and Portugal differ from those of their New World counterparts - Australia, the U.S., South America, South Africa, and beyond?

May 19: Wines from Argentina

Doug and Cat started the new year off with a trip to Argentina to meet winemakers and bring back wonderful new selections. Argentina is most well known for wines made from the Malbec grape, but increasingly also for its Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc.
